Funding

There is a two-step process for requesting funding from the BMRP:

1. The first step is a Letter of Interest. Instructions and format for Letters of Interest can be found on “How to Apply.” Decisions on Letters of Interest usually are made within four to six weeks.

2.

If the BMRP is interested in pursuing a project, an invitation is extended to submit a full grant application. At that time, the grant application instructions and forms are sent to the Principal Investigator. Decisions on grant applications usually are made within eight to ten weeks.

There are no deadlines. Proposals are accepted and reviewed year round. Revised proposals can only be submitted at the request of the BMRP.

Special Requests for Proposals

IBD in Developing Countries

We are funding innovative research designed to explain the low incidence of IBD in developing areas of the globe. Proposals can be exploratory in nature or designed as pilot projects aiming to explore new ideas. The research should shed light on factors that may determine low versus high global areas of prevalence of the disease.  The research should ultimately be helpful in uncovering the etiology of IBD and the factors that enhance or prevent the genesis of the disease.

I
BD and Diabetes Mellitus

We are interested in early stage, exploratory innovative research proposals aimed at investigating the similarities and differences between inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and diabetes mellitus (DM).

Proposals should be of an exploratory nature and designed as pilot projects aimed at the question of possible commonality in the etiopathogenesis between IBD and DM. Human or animal model studies are welcomed.

Instructions and format can be found on "How to Apply."

Letter of Interest

The first step in applying is to submit a Letter of Interest (LOI). Investigators whose LOIs fit the BMRP's criteria and interest areas will be invited to submit a full grant application.

Review Process

A committee does not review or make decisions on proposals. Leading investigators in each research area provide individual reviews and suggestions to improve the proposals.

Funded Grants

Review the list of funded grants before you submit a LOI. Included are scientific abstracts, lay summaries, presentations made at BMRP Investigator meetings, publications resulting from BMRP funding and final technical progress reports.
